The 81st Golden Globes Awards was hosted on live television on Sunday, January 7 celebrating film and American television productions released in 2023. Lily Gladstone, an actress of Blackfeet and Nez Perce heritage with an upbringing on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana, earns a historic first as the first Indigenous person to earn a nomination in the Golden Globes for a lead role. Gladstone’s nomination comes with a slew of other nominations from the film, “Killers of the Flower Moon”, where she plays Mollie Burkhart, an Osage woman who’s family was targeted by white men for their connections to oil-rich lands in Oklahoma.
